Hello. I am an RA member and I have been browsing your site with intentions of joining you on a walk. However, there is no walk programme . Is Redditch Ramblers a 'closed shop' to outsiders?

I regret to report the death of Rod Lloyd on the 13th January 2016. He will be sadly missed and was not only our Chairman for many years but a stalward of the club for as far back as I can remember

Dear Redditch Ramblers

Go Walkabout would like to introduce your association to a totally new insurance policy that is specifically designed for individual walkers, walking clubs and rock climbers. We would be very keen to gain a link to your site and to see if your members would be interested in our insurance product.

According to Britain?s most comprehensive survey of sport and recreation participation, 9.1million adults in England, or 22% of the population, walk recreationally for at least 30 minutes in four weeks. This is almost twice the number that swim (5.6million, 13.4%), more than twice the number that go to the gym (4.5million, 10.7%) and nearly three times the number that cycle (3.5million, 8.5%).

However accident can happen whilst walking trips

Go Walkabout in partnership with our underwriters Equity Red Star have developed an insurance product that is designed to deal with the accidents and incidents that can occur whilst on a walking trip. We are able to offer an annual policy for as little as £23.85 for an individual or £42.93 for a couple.

We are also able to offer a group or club discount if your club members are interested. To quote a club price we would require to know the volume of club members expressing an interest in the insurance and if any of the club members participate in rock climbing this can also be covered to various degrees of difficulty.

The benefits of the policy are as follows:
Personal Liability - up to £1m
Accidental Death - £10,000
Loss of Sight (one or both eyes) - £20,000
Loss of a Limb - £20,000
Permanent Total Disability - £20,000
Loss of Hearing - £20,000
Loss of Speech - £20,000
Broken Bone(s) - £250
Emergency Dental Treatment - £250
Hypothermia - £250
Dislocation or Torn Ligament - £150
Additional Accomm. Expenses - up to £350
Search and Rescue - up to £500

Please use the following link to our website to see further details:

If you or the club wish to discuss this insurance policy further please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

I would like to draw your attention to my website which I set up to record walks that I do but more importantly to provide accurate and easy to follow instructions for others to enjoy these walks too (with PDF text downloads of the directions and GPX/Memory map downloads for those that use GPS receivers).

Your walking group members may find the large amount of general walking information of interest and those who visit the areas where my walks are located might find my routes useful. All the information is free.

Perhaps you could draw the attention of your walking members to the site.

Dear Redditch Ramblers

Cicerone offers a members discount scheme, and I was wondering if your club would be interested in joining the scheme?

As you may know, we publish over 280 guidebooks to walking, trekking, mountaineering and cycle touring in the UK and across the world.

Setting up a Cicerone club rate means that members can enjoy a regular 20% discount on our entire range of books, and gain full access to our special promotional offers and competitions.

Itā??s quick and easy to setup, plus I can confirm there is no cost to your club to put this scheme in place. All members need to do to claim the discount is to add a voucher code, that we create specially for your club, on our shopping basket page.

Donā??t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to arrange this for your members.

I look forward to hearing from you.
